[January 23, 2023] – Expedia Group has selected Flywallet to take part in the inaugural Impact program from their 2023 Open World Accelerator.
The Open World Accelerator Impact program was launched recently as a part of Expedia Group’s new social and sustainability strategy. It aims to empower young companies making a considerable effort towards increasing accessibility for underserved travellers.
Flywallet joins 11 fellow startups and SMBs chosen from hundreds of applicants worldwide.
“Travel is transformative. It broadens horizons, strengthens connections and changes perspectives. With our new Open World™ social impact and sustainability forward-looking plans, we will further our mission to power travel for everyone, everywhere.”
- Peter Kern, Vice Chairman and CEO of Expedia Group
Expedia Group’s sustainability initiative mirrors Flywallet’s core mission – to bring accessibility, affordability and equality to the tourism industry. By building a global network of partners, Expedia Group says it’s committed to creating more sustainable business models and bringing better access to travellers around the world.
Flywallet leapt at the chance to work alongside inspiring startups and SMBs with a similar vision. And the opportunity to connect with industry leader, Expedia Group, was one they could not afford to miss.
“When we started Flywallet we always imagined one day sharing our vision with a big travel company. So to be at the Expedia HQ in Seattle, WA 5 years later and pitching to a room full of executives is a moment we will never forget. This is only the beginning.”
- Thomas Negrit, Cofounder of Flywallet
The Impact program runs from January–May. During this time, participants will have opportunities to connect with like-minded travel tech innovators and participate in two live events at Expedia Group’s HQ in Washington State: Program Opening and Demo Day.
Flywallet, along with the other 11 travel tech startups and SMBs selected, will also be given access to up to a $20,000 USD non-equity grant per company. Plus, participants will receive regular coaching sessions and workshops to advance their product and business roadmaps.
“The program is going great so far. Expedia [Group] are going above and beyond to support the development of new, long-term partnerships with the participants. They’ve been exceedingly generous with their resources, enabling each of us to explore and capitalize on this opportunity.”
- Alejandra Fernandez, Cofounder of Flywallet
There are big plans in the pipeline for Flywallet at the moment. The Expedia Group Accelerator program offers numerous opportunities to deliver more value to Flywallet users in the near future.
